TUMMY TUCK ABDOMINOPLASTY RECOVERY FAIRFIELD COUNTY CONNECTICUT
What is the Recovery after a Tummy Tuck?
Tummy Tuck Recovery - Connecticut
At the end of the tummy tuck, there will be steri-strips and gauze on all the incisions and you will be in an abdominal binder for added support. You will have two small drains that come out of the skin in the pubic area and are used to prevent a fluid accumulation known as a seroma. You will be given pain medication, antibiotics, and Valium after surgery. The combination of pain medication and a muscle relaxant such as Valium works incredibly well to make patients comfortable after surgery. You are encouraged to be up and walking around the night after surgery to prevent clot formation in the legs.
Tummy Tuck Recovery Time
You can remove the gauze and shower two days after the tummy tuck. Baths and swimming are not allowed for 6 weeks after surgery. You will be seen in the office within a few days of surgery to check to make sure everything is healing well. You will have the drains removed within 1-2 weeks after the operation.
Exercise after Tummy Tuck
You will be able to resume light activity and return to work 1-2 weeks after tummy tuck surgery. You will then be seen one final time 2-3 months postoperatively to take the after surgery photos. At two months after surgery, you can resume vigorous exercise and working out.
