Dermapen® Microneedling for Collagen Stimulation
Microneedling in Connecticut
Jandali Plastic Surgery offers microneedling for skin collagen induction for patients in Connecticut, Stamford, Norwalk, Fairfield, Westport, Bridgeport, Trumbull, Monroe, Shelton, and New Haven County.
Dermapen® is the world’s most advanced fractional skin microneedling device. The device uses multiple vertical needles to cause micro-injuries to the skin. This encourages and harnesses the power of the body’s innate ability to re-grow and repair the skin through the physiology of collagen induction. This starts with the release of healing growth factors and fibroblast proliferation. This leads to collagen and elastin deposition and subsequent skin remodeling and tightening. Because the process never involves heat or thermal energy or other chemicals, the skin can quickly heal with almost zero downtime.

Microneedling for Acne Scars and Stretch Marks
Dermapen® is highly effective in the treatment of acne scarring, stretch marks, and surgical scars. It also tightens facial skin and improves fine facial wrinkles by its ability to induce collagen deposition. Nice results have been seen with upper lip lines, which are notoriously hard to treat. There is little to no down time. Treatments can be combined with our SkinMedica® TNS line of products to enhance the skin’s absorption of growth factors and antioxidants.
Dermapen® is safe for all skin types. It can be used on the entire face due to its versatility and adjustable needling depth. The DermaPen® penetrates the skin up to 100 times per second with an adjustable speed, and at a depth between 0.25mm- 2.5mm, depending on the area being treated. Numbing cream can be used before deeper and more intensive treatments.
Visible results can be seen within a few days of treatment but results continue to improve for up to two months. Depending on the skin condition being treated, a series of Dermapen® treatments may be recommended to achieve optimum results. Treatments should be performed about 3-4 weeks apart.

Microneedling vs Laser Treatments
The closest technology to the Dermapen® is a fractional laser. These technologies have similar results, but achieve them in very different ways, resulting in different side effects profiles. The laser uses light which converts to heat in the skin, which burns small channels in the skin to stimulate healing and collagen formation. Due to the heat created, there is more injury to the skin, leading to more redness, swelling, and a longer recovery. The needles in the DermaPen® penetrate the skin vertically, minimizing skin damage without any thermal injury. This reduces pain with treatment and allows the skin to heal more quickly and with less redness and swelling.
Prior to the Dermapen treatment, please observe the following:
- No Retin-A products or applications 2 days prior to your treatment.
- No prolonged sun exposure to the face 2 days prior to your treatment. A Dermapen treatment will not be administered on sunburned skin.
- On the day of the treatment, please keep your face clean and do not apply makeup.
- If a severe acne breakout occurs before treatment, please contact us to reschedule.
