How does Kybella Work?
Kybella is deoxycholic acid, which is a natural substance found in the body that dissolves fat. Once injected into fat, it causes the fat cells to burst and die. Your body removes the dead fat cells, which never grow back. Therefore, Kybella treatments are permanent.
What to Expect from Kybella Injections?
The injection takes only a few minutes, and it is customized to each patient and the area that needs treatment. A template with temporary tattoos is applied to a patient's under chin area and neck. The area is then iced, which makes the area numb for the injections.
Side Effects from Kybella Injections
A minor burning sensation and mild pain are common during and immediately after the treatment. Every patient has mild to moderate swelling after the treatment, along with some possible bruising. Slight altered sensation or numbness in the area is fairly common and is temporary.
How many Kybella Treatments are Needed?
The number of Kybella treatments necessary all depends on the amount of fat present and the desired outcome. For a small area of fat, 1-2 treatments may be all that is necessary to give a great outcome. However, in a heavier neck with more fat cells, 3-4 treatments may be necessary. Each treatment is performed about 6-8 weeks apart from the last treatment.
