INSURANCE BREAST RECONSTRUCTION FAIRFIELD COUNTY CONNECTICUT
What Does Insurance Cover?
Our office and billing staff is experienced and will work to obtain coverage for breast reconstruction with any insurance carrier. The Women's Health and Cancer Rights Act (WHCRA) is a federal law that was passed in 1998 and requires insurance companies to provide coverage for breast reconstruction. This includes all stages of breast reconstruction after a mastectomy or lumpectomy, as well as surgery on the opposite breast to obtain a symmetrical appearance (breast lift, reduction, or augmentation). If a surgeon in your network of participating providers does not offer the type of reconstruction that you prefer (oncoplastic, free TRAM, DIEP), your insurer will often still provide coverage for the surgery, even if this means covering the cost of the surgery with a "non-participating" or "out of network" surgeon. We will work closely with you and your insurance company so that you can obtain the proper care and treatment.
