TUMMY TUCK ABDOMINOPLASTY SCARS FAIRFIELD COUNTY CONNECTICUT
What are the Scars after a Tummy Tuck?
Tummy Tuck Scars - Connecticut
When one undergoes an abdominoplasty, one is trading a scar for a vastly improved contour of the abdomen with tight skin and less fat. The scar is a low abdominal transverse scar, which is like a long c-section scar. Dr. Jandali does everything he can to make the scar from a tummy tuck as narrow as possible and hidden beneath the underwear line. He marks all patients before surgery with their underwear on, making sure to place the incision well below the border of the underwear. This ensures that the scar is hidden beneath the usual underwear style worn by the patient.

Removal of C-section Scar
The tummy tuck scar is placed just above the top of the pubic bone, often below where a c-section scar would be. Any old C-section scar is removed during the operation. There is also a small scar around that navel which is hidden nicely. Dr. Jandali uses special progressive tension sutures when closing the abdomen to take tension off of the scar line. This helps prevent widening of the scar and hypertrophic scarring.
Tummy Tuck Scar Cream
Postoperatively, tummy tuck patients are instructed on the use of SkinMedica Scar Recovery Gel, which contains silicone and centelline, two of the only topical ingredients shown to improve scar appearance.
Tummy Tuck Scar Massage
All tummy tuck patients are shown how to perform scar massage, which helps scars fade faster and prevents raised scars.
