Before & After Split Earlobe Repair
Causes of Split Earlobes
Split ealobes are usually caused by trauma to the earlobe. This can happen due to wearing heavy earrings or accidentally pulling on an earring. Over time, the constant pressure on the earlobe can cause it to stretch and eventually tear.
Another common cause of split earlobes is gauging, a trend in which people stretch their earlobes to insert larger and extra large plugs. Over time, this stretching can cause the earlobe to become thin and weak, increasing the risk of a split.
